Interesting trivia

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) made drawings of gear-driven types of calculating machines (like the idea of a computer) but none have been found built.

1642 Blaise Pascal, invented and built a gear driven adding machine (calculator/computer predecessor) to help his Father who was a taxman.

1822 Charles Babbage designed and proposed a steam driven calculating machine which he called the Difference Engine.,l it was the size of the average household room. (hmmm not so much a Desktop PC as a housefull one)
